Import members
Switching from another loyalty app? Bring your members and their balances with you, so nobody loses the points they've earned.
1. Export your members
Export a CSV from your current loyalty app:
- Smile.io: Customers, then Export
- LoyaltyLion: Customers, then Export
- Yotpo: Customers, then Export customers
- Anything else: a spreadsheet saved as CSV, with an email column and a points balance column
2. Upload and check
Go to Import in the app menu and upload the file — up to 10 MB. The app recognises the columns from the common exports. If it can't, pick them yourself:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Required. Used to match each member to a Shopify customer. | |
| Points balance | Required. Their spendable balance. |
| Lifetime points | Optional. Points earned in total, which decides their VIP tier. |
| First name, Last name | Optional. |
| Birthday | Optional. For the birthday reward. |
Before anything is imported you see how many members are ready and which lines will be skipped, and why — no email, an email that doesn't look right, points that aren't a number, or the same email twice.
3. Run the import
Click Import. You can leave the page; the import keeps going in the background. When it's done you'll see how many members and points were imported.
How members are imported
- Members are matched to Shopify customers by email.
- Their balance is added as it is in the file — no welcome bonus and no emails.
- Each customer can only be imported once, so running a file twice is safe.
- Emails that don't belong to a customer in your store aren't imported. Download the list, and import them in a new file once they have an account.
