Getting started
Setup guide
Five steps take Cash on Delivery from installed to live at checkout. They're the same five steps as the setup checklist on your app Dashboard. Only the first two are required.

1. Add a Cash on Delivery payment method
Shopify needs a payment method the app can treat as Cash on Delivery.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Payments.

- Under Manual payment methods, click Add manual payment method.

- Choose Create custom payment method, name it something clear such as Cash on Delivery, and save.
2. Turn on COD Limit and select your payment method
This tells the app which payment method is Cash on Delivery.
- In the app, open Limit COD.
- Turn Status on.

- Under Payment Method, select the payment method you created in step 1.

- Add any restrictions you need: order total, location, products, customer tags and so on. The Limit COD guide explains each one.
- Click Save.

3. Add a Cash on Delivery shipping rate (optional)
Add a separate shipping rate for COD if you want to charge a static COD fee (step 5) or show COD orders as their own delivery option. Skip this if you use the same shipping rates for prepaid and COD orders.
- Go to Settings → Shipping and delivery.

- Open the shipping zone your customers order from and click Add shipping option.

- Give it a clear name, such as Cash on Delivery, COD – Standard or COD – Express.

4. Keep delivery options in sync (optional)
When one of your rules hides Cash on Delivery, the COD shipping rate from step 3 can still show at checkout. Link them so it's hidden too.
- On the Limit COD page, find Keep Delivery Options in Sync.
- Turn on Also hide the matching delivery option when Cash on Delivery is hidden.
- Select the delivery option(s) used for COD, such as the rate from step 3.

5. Add a Cash on Delivery fee (optional)
- In the app, open Fee Settings.
- Choose Static Fee (tied to a shipping rate, every plan) or Dynamic Fee (worked out live at checkout; needs the Pro plan or higher and a Shopify Plus store).
- Enter the fee and save.
The COD fees guide covers both modes in detail.
You're done
Once steps 1 and 2 are complete, Cash on Delivery is live at checkout and the checklist shows Setup complete. Add steps 3–5 whenever they suit your store.
